OTTAWA, Ontario — The Nashville Predators lost 3-2 to the Ottawa Senators in a shootout Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre, closing a three-game Eastern Canada road trip before the team returns home to Nashville, Tenn.

Nashville took four of a possible six points on the trip. The Predators led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Ross Colton, his first with the club, and Jonathan Marchessault, who scored on the power play off a feed from Steven Stamkos.

Vitali Pinchuk set up the Colton goal in his NHL debut, needing just three shifts to reach the scoresheet. Ottawa answered on a second-period power play by Tim Stutzle, and Drake Batherson tied it with 2:23 left in the third period.

A Nashville delay-of-game penalty for a puck over the glass with 13 seconds left in regulation gave Ottawa a late chance, but the Senators could not score on that power play. After a scoreless overtime, Ryan O Reilly scored for Nashville in the shootout, while Shane Pinto and Stutzle scored for Ottawa. Pinto had the winner.

Matt Murray made 18 saves in his first NHL start since Jan. 8, 2024, filling in for Juuse Saros. Linus Ullmark stopped 16 shots for Ottawa, which improved to 4-1-0. Nashville moved to 2-1-2.

Defenseman Jayden Struble also made his Predators debut, logging six hits and two blocked shots in 19:12 of ice time. General manager Chris MacFarland announced Friday that Nashville acquired the 25-year-old from Montreal in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick originally owned by Vegas.

Head coach Andrew Brunette called it the team best road game of the trip and said the club would take the point.
