NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nashville and the rest of Middle Tennessee are heading into a textbook fall weekend, with sunshine both Saturday and Sunday, no rain in sight and afternoons warming into the 70s.

Forecasters expect highs in the mid to upper 70s each day after crisp mornings in the low to mid 40s. That is cool enough for a jacket at sunrise, but not cold enough for widespread frost or a freeze. Dry weather should last into the middle part of next week at the earliest.

Friday night will turn chilly for high school football fans, with readings falling to the upper 50s as the evening goes on, so a jacket is a good idea in the stands.

Saturday brings college football to Nissan Stadium, where Tennessee State hosts Charleston Southern at 2:30 p.m. Kickoff weather looks close to 76 degrees under sunny skies with low humidity and little wind, about normal for late October. Vanderbilt fans making the drive north to Lexington for the game against No. 12 Kentucky will find it a bit cooler, with a high near 70 that drops into the upper 50s by the time that game ends after 9 p.m.

On Sunday the Titans host the Cleveland Browns at Nissan Stadium. The morning starts cool, then temperatures climb into the upper 70s for the afternoon.

The weekend also lines up well for outdoor fall events such as PumpkinFest in downtown Franklin, which is running for two days for the first time, and for pumpkin picking ahead of Halloween week. For carved jack-o’-lanterns that still look fresh on Halloween night, forecasters suggest waiting until three to five days before the holiday to carve.
