Local author Layla Slater releases her inaugural book, Saving Abigail Grace: A  Mother’s Story of Transforming Pain into Purpose, with intentions to help others experience joy through their own trauma. By telling her true personal story and providing advice, paired with resources found on her website, Layla takes her readers on a journey through the darkest time of her life encouraging humor, lightheartedness, and faith for a beautiful “ending.”

LAYLA SLATER was born and raised in Monmouth, Illinois, where she became the first in her family to attend college. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University and a Master of Arts degree in environmental studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Layla now serves as the operations manager of Slater Wealth Management, the Peoria-based firm she co-owns with her husband, Brian. She is deeply committed to her community, serving on the board of Family House of Peoria, volunteering for the Hydrocephalus Association, and advocating as an Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador.
