Nashville – The community is coming together to mourn the unexpected passing of Katherine Ann “Katie” Eadler, a beloved resident and advocate for the arts, who died peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the age of 44. Surrounded by her loving family in Nashville, Katie’s death has left a profound impact on all who knew her.
Katie was born on April 25, 1981, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Alice Strobel Eadler and Robert Eadler. She spent the majority of her life in Nashville, only leaving for her college education. Katie attended Christ the King parochial school and graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1999, where she distinguished herself as a talented athlete, playing both basketball and volleyball.
Her college journey began at Francis Marion University on a volleyball scholarship, but she later transferred to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and subsequently to Middle Tennessee State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations. Throughout her career, Katie held a variety of positions, gaining valuable experience in organizations such as the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Center for Nonprofit Management/Hands on Nashville, Westminster Presbyterian preschool, the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, and the Metro Nashville Parks Department.
Katie was universally recognized for her vibrant personality, genuine care for others, and love for the arts. She had a variety of hobbies that included listening to music, cooking, and watching movies, as well as traveling both domestically and internationally. Additionally, she was an animal lover, cherished her pets—an American bulldog named Diesel and two cats named Annie and Boo—reflecting her compassionate nature.
She is survived by her brother Charles Eadler and sister-in-law Candice, along with an extended family that includes aunts and uncles Richard Eadler, Raymond Eadler, and Patricia Eadler Hagerty, as well as numerous loving cousins and a special friend named Chance Church. Preceding her in death were her grandparents: Martin and Mary Catherine Schweiss Strobel, Duane and Ann Horbiak Eadler, along with several aunts, uncles, and a cousin.
The Eadler family expressed their profound gratitude to the staff at Ascension St. Thomas Hospital for their compassionate care during Katie’s final hours. In honor of her legacy, the family has requested that any contributions in Katie’s memory be directed to Room in the Inn or a charity of one’s choice, in lieu of flowers.
Visitation for friends and family will take place on August 5, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Nashville. The arrangements for Katie’s funeral have been entrusted to Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home in Nashville.
