Murrell was preceded in death by her parents, her only son Jacob W. Ayers, a sister Darthula Cuesta Bass, a brother John Douglas Ayers, and a loving aunt Lula M. Hurt. She is survived by numerous extended family members, including sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a devoted goddaughter, Brenda Buren.

Dr. Joseph Rice, she took on significant roles, serving as both the Church Secretary and on the Mother’s Board until her passing. In addition to her church involvement, Murrell was a Charter Member of the Upsilon Sigma Philo Organization, part of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority in Nashville since September 2000. Celebration of Life
The family has announced that services for Murrell will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025. A Gathering of Family and Friends is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Committal and Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park is planned for 12:30 PM. Family and friends are encouraged to attend to honor Murrell’s memory.
