Nashville – Authorities are investigating the discovery of an unidentified man’s body found floating in the Cumberland River near Rock Harbor Marina on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The Nashville Fire Department (NFD) was alerted to the scene after a fisherman spotted the body around 9 a.m. near mile marker 183.

First responders from the NFD promptly arrived at the location and successfully recovered the body from the water. Following this, the scene was turned over to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) for further investigation, as well as to the medical examiner for the completion of a formal examination.

While details surrounding the circumstances of the man’s identity remain unclear, authorities described him as having multiple tattoos. Notably, he had “1997” inked on his upper left arm and the word “Cashville” displayed prominently on his abdomen. He was also found fully clothed, wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and black shoes.

The body showed signs of decomposition, indicating that it had been in the water for some time before being discovered. However, police have reported that there are currently no apparent signs of foul play associated with the discovery.

The next steps involve the medical examiner’s office, which will work to identify the man and ascertain the cause of death. Currently, there are no additional details available regarding this incident, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are actively working to gather more information and updates are anticipated as the situation develops.

This incident adds to the concern over safety at local waterways, which have seen various incidents involving unidentified individuals in the past. Community members are urged to report any suspicious activities near the river and to remain vigilant.

As this is a developing story, further information will be provided as it becomes available. Both the authorities and the local community hope that the man’s identity will be uncovered soon, bringing closure to the situation.
