Easy walk, fair greens fees, and a steady breeze off the water kept things interesting even on holes that play short on paper. **Memorable Hole:** Hole #16 — open par 4 exposed to the river wind **Toughest Green:** Hole #2 — flat, medium-fast, receptive to a running approach **Best Food:** Chicken tender basket at the turn Ted Rhodes Golf Course Ayesha B. • Jul 13, 2026 Played Ted Rhodes named for the Nashville golf pioneer, and the course has a real sense of history along with a solid layout for a public track. Fairways were generous, greens had some good movement, and the staff clearly take pride in keeping the place up. A great value round close to downtown. **Memorable Hole:** Hole #5 — par 5 that rewards a bold second shot over the pond **Toughest Green:** Hole #11 — long and narrow, three clubs of break front to back **Best Food:** BBQ nachos at the grill room McCabe Golf Course Dwight L. • Jul 13, 2026 Played McCabe on a Saturday morning — it's Nashville's classic muni and it was busy but moved at a decent pace. Nothing fancy about the layout but the greens hold well for a city course and the price can't be beat for west Nashville golf. Good walk if you want to save the cart fee. **Memorable Hole:** Hole #9 — short par 4 that tempts a driver over the corner bunker **Toughest Green:** Hole #14 — flat but subtly quick after the morning cut **Best Food:** Hot dog and a fountain drink at the snack window Vanderbilt Legends Club (North Course) Simone R. • Jul 13, 2026 Played the North Course at Vanderbilt Legends as a guest and the Tom Fazio/Hubert Green design is tree-lined and demanding from the first tee. Greens were rolling true and fast, and the routing uses the natural rolling terrain of Franklin better than most modern courses. A step up from most public-adjacent tracks in the area. **Memorable Hole:** Hole #10 — sweeping downhill dogleg through a chute of hardwoods **Toughest Green:** Hole #17 — small, elevated, and guarded front-left by a deep bunker **Best Food:** Turkey club and sweet tea at the grill Gaylord Springs Golf Links Trevor A. • Jul 13, 2026 Got out to Gaylord Springs near Opryland and the Larry Nelson design routes through real wetlands with a lot of forced carries. Conditioning was excellent for a resort course and the back nine views toward the Cumberland River are some of the best in Nashville golf. Pricey but worth it once. **Memorable Hole:** Hole #13 — long carry over a marsh to a well-bunkered green **Toughest Green:** Hole #6 — tiered and fast, tricky depending on pin position **Best Food:** Grilled chicken sandwich on the clubhouse patio Hermitage Golf Course (President's Reserve) Carla N. • Jul 13, 2026 Played the President's Reserve at Hermitage on a member-guest round and the Denis Griffiths design through 300 acres of wetland along the Cumberland is a totally different animal from General's Retreat next door. Wide corridors but miss off line and you're gone in the tall grass. Watch for the Scottish Blackface sheep grazing near the back nine — they're the club's mascot and they're everywhere. **Memorable Hole:** Hole #2 — monster par 5 stretching past 600 yards from the tips **Toughest Green:** Hole #18 — big and undulating, three-putts are common **Best Food:** Pulled pork sandwich at the halfway turn Share Your Round Played a Nashville-area course?
