William Stephen “Steve” Reynolds, Mary Kathryn Loper, and Flo Jean Schlosser have left lasting impacts through their contributions and commitments to family, education, and community service.

William Stephen “Steve” Reynolds

William Stephen “Steve” Reynolds, age 74, passed away on August 9, 2025, in Hixson, TN. He dedicated over three decades to education, having founded the wrestling team and taught English Literature at Hendersonville High School, where he was respected and admired by students and colleagues alike. Reynolds was a graduate of McCallie Prep School and earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, followed by a Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Reynolds; his sister, Marilyn Barry; his brother, Dan Reynolds (Rhonda); his sons, TJ and Nic Reynolds; and his grandson, Norris Reynolds.

A Celebration of Life service for Steve will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 11 am – 2 pm at Sanders Ferry Park Pavilion #8 in Hendersonville, TN. The arrangements are being managed by Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga, TN.

Mary Kathryn Loper

Mary Kathryn Loper, known simply as Mary, age 44, passed away on August 8, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Born on September 26, 1980, in Tuscaloosa, AL, Mary moved to Hendersonville, where she remained a beloved community member.

A proud graduate of Beech High School’s Class of 1999, she was actively involved at First Baptist Church and participated in community initiatives, including Project 22 and the Special Needs Sports Foundation, where she enjoyed bowling.

Mary’s interests included professional wrestling, contemporary Christian music, and she was a devoted fan of University of Alabama sports. She is survived by her parents, Margie and Lonnie Loper; her brother, Michael Loper (Missy); her sister, Karen Disney (Brian); along with her niece and nephews.

A visitation for Mary will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at First Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project 22 or the Special Friends Connect Group at First Baptist.

Flo Jean Schlosser

Flo Jean Schlosser, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2025. Born on December 18, 1936, in San Diego, CA, Flo Jean grew up in West Plains, Missouri, and married Don Schlosser on March 3, 1957, celebrating an impressive 68 years of marriage.

Having lived in Hendersonville for sixty years, Flo Jean was known for her commitment to community activities and was a founding member of St. Michael’s Anglican Church. She is survived by her husband Don, her twin sister Eva Jane Johnston, children Kenny (Kimberly) Schlosser, Katie (Danny) Strawn, and Kerry (William) Henson, along with grandchildren and a nephew.
