Surviving family members include her husband, Don Brothers, her sister, Beverly Lewis, who resides in Plano, TX, and several nieces and nephews, along with their children.
After completing her education at Hillsboro High School, Kay pursued an Associate of Arts Degree from Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C. Following her studies, she returned to Nashville, where she contributed to the education system by teaching in the kindergarten department at Ensworth.
