Peggy competed at the U.S. Open in the 35 division and was a national mother-daughter tennis champion with her daughter Cindy for ten consecutive years. Additionally, she served as a coach for the Vanderbilt Women’s Tennis Team in the early 1990s.

Peggy’s passions extended beyond tennis; she enjoyed hiking, skiing, fishing, and even held a pilot’s license. She was also deeply involved in mission work, making numerous trips to Haiti. Peggy leaves behind four daughters: Christy Omohundro (Kahley Malloy), Cindy Davis (Bill), Lynn Omohundro Haston (Charles), and Laurie Omohundro (Scott Cone). She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with additional great-grandchildren expected soon. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Johnny, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage, as well as her sister Jean Cummings and brother Jimmy Cowan.
