Flower arrangements and gift bundles for Valentine's Day support

News Summary

This Valentine’s Day, the Nashville nonprofit Brighten Up is spreading love and joy by delivering fresh flowers and gift bundles to widows and widowers. Aiming to reach 500 individuals, the initiative showcases community support and involvement, inviting nominations and volunteer participation to uplift those in need during this emotional holiday.

Nashville Nonprofit Brightens Up Valentine’s Day for Widows and Widowers

This year, Nashville has a heartwarming initiative in the works as a local nonprofit known as Brighten Up aims to spread love and joy to those who may be feeling a little lonely this Valentine’s Day. For the third year running, the organization is ramping up its efforts to support widows and widowers by delivering stunning fresh-cut flower arrangements and delightful gift bundles.

Doubling Down on Love

Brighten Up has set an ambitious goal to take their outreach to the next level—aiming to deliver to 500 widows and widowers this year. That’s more than double the number they reached in 2022, which was 226 individuals. It’s truly a testament to the growing love within the Nashville community. The founders of Brighten Up recognize that Valentine’s Day can be especially tough for those who have lost a spouse, and this initiative is designed to remind recipients that they are still loved and that others care about them.

Nominating Loved Ones

February 7. It’s a simple way for friends, family, and community members to shine a light on those going through tough times, allowing them to feel appreciated and cherished during a holiday centered around love.

Community Involvement

The initiative is not just about flowers and gifts; it’s about bringing the community together. Local businesses have stepped up to sponsor the gift bundles, showcasing the generosity and support of Nashville’s small business community. Some of the contributors include Chef’s Market, Little Things Studio, Prickly Pear Coffee, and Able, showing that together, people can make a meaningful impact.

On top of that, volunteers are invited to roll up their sleeves and get involved in designing and delivering these beautiful flower arrangements during the week leading up to February 10. The response has been overwhelming, with over 150 volunteers already signing up to help out. They will be crafting heartfelt arrangements and bringing them to recipients’ doorsteps, and ensuring these individuals feel the warmth of community love.

The Human Experience

Last year, over 200 women experienced the joy of receiving these special deliveries, and the emotional impact was profound. Recipients shared stories about how the flowers and gifts transformed a typically difficult day into something filled with warmth and connection. Brighten Up isn’t just distributing flowers; they are delivering a sense of belonging and care during hardships, which makes all the difference.

Looking Ahead

So this Valentine’s Day, Nashville is truly setting an example for how a community can come together to uplift those in need. If you want to be part of this beautiful initiative, consider nominating someone or lending a hand as a volunteer. Together, we can make a difference and help spread a little more love this February!
