NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Houston Texans lead the all-time series against the Tennessee Titans for the first time in franchise history after a 26-3 win at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., in Week 5.
Houston moved ahead 25-24 in the series with the victory at Nissan Stadium. It was the Texans fourth straight win over Tennessee, the second-longest Houston streak in the rivalry, and their sixth consecutive road win against the Titans dating to Nov. 21, 2021. The series flip caps a stretch of Texans control in the AFC South matchup that had been even for years.
The Texans defense held Tennessee to 187 total yards and no touchdowns. For the second time in the last three meetings, Houston did not allow a Titans touchdown. Kaimi Fairbairn made four first-half field goals from 45, 35, 26 and 53 yards for a 12-3 halftime lead, tying a franchise record for most field goals in a half. C.J. Stroud later scored on a two-yard run and threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jaylin Noel.
The loss dropped the Titans to 0-5, their worst defeat of the season so far and the first time Tennessee has opened with five losses since 2009. Houston entered the game winless but controlled the AFC South matchup from the opening half.
Stroud completed 26 of 34 passes for 261 yards with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. Tennessee only points came on a first-quarter field goal. Houston opened the second half with a 17-play, 74-yard drive that ate 8:23 off the clock before Stroud scored, then added the Noel touchdown on a seven-play, 74-yard drive in the fourth quarter.
