Nashville Golf Course Reviews

Two Rivers Golf Course
Franklin O. • Jul 13, 2026
Played Two Rivers along the Cumberland and Stones River confluence and the flat, open layout is a nice change of pace from Nashville's hillier courses. Easy walk, fair greens fees, and a steady breeze off the water kept things interesting even on holes that play short on paper.
Memorable Hole: Hole #16 — open par 4 exposed to the river wind
Toughest Green: Hole #2 — flat, medium-fast, receptive to a running approach
Best Food: Chicken tender basket at the turn
Ted Rhodes Golf Course
Ayesha B. • Jul 13, 2026
Played Ted Rhodes named for the Nashville golf pioneer, and the course has a real sense of history along with a solid layout for a public track. Fairways were generous, greens had some good movement, and the staff clearly take pride in keeping the place up. A great value round close to downtown.
Memorable Hole: Hole #5 — par 5 that rewards a bold second shot over the pond
Toughest Green: Hole #11 — long and narrow, three clubs of break front to back
Best Food: BBQ nachos at the grill room
McCabe Golf Course
Dwight L. • Jul 13, 2026
Played McCabe on a Saturday morning — it's Nashville's classic muni and it was busy but moved at a decent pace. Nothing fancy about the layout but the greens hold well for a city course and the price can't be beat for west Nashville golf. Good walk if you want to save the cart fee.
Memorable Hole: Hole #9 — short par 4 that tempts a driver over the corner bunker
Toughest Green: Hole #14 — flat but subtly quick after the morning cut
Best Food: Hot dog and a fountain drink at the snack window
Vanderbilt Legends Club (North Course)
Simone R. • Jul 13, 2026
Played the North Course at Vanderbilt Legends as a guest and the Tom Fazio/Hubert Green design is tree-lined and demanding from the first tee. Greens were rolling true and fast, and the routing uses the natural rolling terrain of Franklin better than most modern courses. A step up from most public-adjacent tracks in the area.
Memorable Hole: Hole #10 — sweeping downhill dogleg through a chute of hardwoods
Toughest Green: Hole #17 — small, elevated, and guarded front-left by a deep bunker
Best Food: Turkey club and sweet tea at the grill

Hit Them Long...
Longest drive. Craziest shot. Hole in one. Brag about it.
Josie
McCabe's 3rd is a short, old-school muni hole that rewards a bold tee shot toward the green. Drove it to the front edge, then chipped in from just off the putting surface for the two. Nashville's oldest municipal course still has plenty of magic left after nearly a century of rounds.
McCabe Golf Course -- Hole #3 — classic muni par-4 Eagle
Sutton
Old Fort's 9th climbs toward a green tucked against the Murfreesboro hillside near the historic earthworks. Hit a solid draw to the corner, a wedge to six feet, and made the putt. Municipal golf built on Civil War-era ground gives every round in Murfreesboro a little extra weight.
Old Fort Golf Club -- Hole #9 — par-4 finishing the front nine Birdie
Marlowe
The North Course's 11th at Vanderbilt Legends tempts a go at the green in two across a pond that guards the entire approach. Drew a 3-wood just over the water to twelve feet, then poured in the putt. Tom Fazio and Bobby Weed's design rewards committed shots, and that eagle putt was as good as golf gets in Franklin.
Vanderbilt Legends Club -- Hole #11 — North Course par-5 Eagle
Mix Them Strong...
Your favorite 19th hole. Where do you go after the round?
Josie
Off McCabe's back nine and straight to Yazoo Brewing. Sly Rye Porter on the patio, the chip-in eagle getting its due praise. An old muni round always deserves a cold finish at Nashville's original craft brewery.
Yazoo Brewing Company -- Sly Rye Porter
Sutton
Walked off Old Fort and drove into the Gulch for Jackalope Brewing. Thunder Ann pale ale, the historic-ground round still fresh in mind, birdie retold for the group. Murfreesboro golf finishing in Nashville makes for a good Saturday.
Jackalope Brewing Company -- Thunder Ann American Pale Ale
Marlowe
Off the Legends Club North Course and over to Little Harpeth in Berry Hill. Crisp pilsner, patio seating, the eagle putt getting bigger by the round. Franklin-area golf and a Berry Hill pilsner pair well together.
Little Harpeth Brewing -- Pilsner

Nashville Golf FAQ

Common questions about golf in the Nashville area, answered.
  • The First Tee of Greater Middle Tennessee also serves the region.

HERENashville’s golf desk covers every course, every tournament, and every story shaping golf in Nashville, Davidson County, and Middle Tennessee. Nashville is one of the fastest-growing golf markets in the country — Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin (Tom Kite / Roy Dye design, 36 holes) has hosted multiple SEC Championships, and the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs (Tom Fazio) is regularly ranked among the top 100 courses in America. Coverage spans the elite private clubs (Belle Meade, Richland, Nashville Golf & Athletic Club in Brentwood, Governors Club in Brentwood, Old Natchez), the destination public tracks (Hermitage Golf Course President’s Reserve in Old Hickory, Gaylord Springs Golf Links in the shadow of the Grand Ole Opry, Greystone in Dickson, Franklin Bridge), and the Metro Parks municipal rotation — Harpeth Hills in the Warner Parks, McCabe, Two Rivers, Ted Rhodes, Percy Warner, and Shelby Golf Course (the city’s first municipal course).

Tournament coverage tracks the Tennessee Golf Association (TGA) statewide calendar, TSSAA high-school championships for Davidson County and Middle Tennessee programs, and the deep college golf scene — Vanderbilt Commodores, Belmont, Lipscomb, and Tennessee State all field varsity programs, and Vanderbilt has produced multiple PGA TOUR winners and Ryder Cup competitors. The Shelby Golf Course “School Days” tournament is the longest-running junior tournament in Tennessee. Course-condition reports pull directly from the National Weather Service Nashville (OHX) office when Middle Tennessee severe weather, spring flooding on the Cumberland, or summer heat advisories affect play. HERENashville also tracks club-pro hires, renovation news, superintendent moves, and the small-business sponsorships flowing into First Tee of Tennessee’s Middle Tennessee chapter and other junior programs across Davidson County.
