NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Police say no charges are on the books for now after a Wednesday evening road rage shooting tied to Atlas Drive in South Nashville, and the District Attorney’s Office will decide what comes next.
Around 6:50 p.m., a 63-year-old man dialed 911 to report that a white pickup had chased him and that he had fired at the other driver. Soon after, a 37-year-old man in that truck called from a Harlin Drive home to say he had been hit in the face.
The older driver told detectives that once he swung onto Nolensville Pike from Thompson Place, the truck began honking and flashing lights, then pulled even and ordered him to stop. He said he kept rolling toward work while the pickup stayed on him.
He said the truck clipped his vehicle as he turned into an Atlas Drive workplace lot, and that he then fired two rounds out of fear. At the hospital, the younger driver first denied any contact, then admitted the vehicles collided after learning that video was being checked.
City detectives logged both emergency calls and the Atlas Drive collision claim. The District Attorney’s Office still has to say whether any charges will be placed after that review.
Neither driver has been named publicly. Anyone with video from Nolensville Pike, Thompson Place, Atlas Drive or Harlin Drive is asked to share it with detectives working the case.
Until prosecutors finish their review, the public stance from investigators remains the same: nothing is charged yet, and the District Attorney’s Office holds the next move.
South Nashville drivers who saw the chase or the Atlas Drive contact are asked to come forward so detectives and prosecutors can compare witness accounts with the video already under review.
