NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The man running the Tennessee Titans business side has a message for a frustrated Nashville fan base after five straight losses to open the season: the team is sorry, and the general manager and head coach are staying put.

Burke Nihill, the Titans president and CEO, made the apology in interviews on Friday, Oct. 16, after first sending fans an email that promised the front office was working hard to build a team worth cheering for. He said nobody inside the building is spared the disappointment, and that the club has let supporters down at a time when football should be fun.

Nihill said Borgonzi, the general manager, and Saleh, the head coach, still have the organization’s backing and that both have every resource they need. He compared the franchise to a train that is on the right track but has not yet built up speed. He also said owner Amy Adams Strunk is feeling the losses deeply.

The numbers explain the mood. Tennessee is one of only three NFL teams without a win, has been outscored by 51 points and is putting up fewer than 12 points a game. Since quarterback Cam Ward, the top pick in the 2025 draft, arrived as a rookie, the Titans have won just three times in 22 games.

Saleh came to Nashville this year after a season as defensive coordinator in San Francisco, following four years as the New York Jets head coach from 2021 to 2024. He has told reporters that the team is working through adversity and that better days are coming.

Off the field, Nihill has been credited with helping the city land Super Bowl LXIV in 2030, to be played at the new Titans stadium that is scheduled to open in 2027.
