NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Nashville Predators fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night in Ottawa, ending a three-game Eastern Canada trip with a road loss after the Predators had led 2-0 in the first period.
Jonathan Marchessault and Ross Colton scored for Nashville, while Matt Murray made 18 stops. Ottawa got regulation goals from Tim Stutzle and Drake Batherson, who tied it with 2:23 left in the third period, then won in the shootout.
Shane Pinto scored the shootout winner to give Ottawa the 3-2 victory. Linus Ullmark turned away 16 shots in regulation for the Senators. The Predators took a delay-of-game penalty for a puck over glass with 13 seconds remaining in regulation, but Ottawa could not convert that late power play before overtime.
A longer game narrative said Ross Colton and Jonathan Marchessault scored first-period goals, and Ryan O Reilly had a shootout goal for Nashville. Murray recorded 18 saves in his first start since the 2023-24 season. Ullmark saved Steven Stamkos final shootout attempt to secure the win.
Earlier in the third, with an extra attacker on the ice, Stutzle shot deflected and Batherson finished to tie the game at 2-2 at 18:37. The Predators had struck first at 8:50 of the opening period when Colton snapped a quick shot past Ullmark, and Marchessault doubled the lead on the power play at 13:10.
Defenseman Jayden Struble made his Nashville debut after being acquired Friday from the Montreal Canadiens. Nashville sits at 2-1-2 after the shootout defeat, while Ottawa moved to 4-1-0. Predators fans in Nashville, Tenn., now turn back to the next home stretch after the Eastern Canada swing.
