NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Nashville Predators 5-2 on Tuesday night at Bridgestone Arena, handing Nashville its first regulation loss since the season opener.

William Karlsson scored for the second straight game to put Vegas ahead late in the second period, and Trevor Connelly and Brett Howden added third-period goals about a minute and a half apart to seal a three-goal cushion. Jack Eichel and Tomas Hertl also scored for the Golden Knights, who improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 on the road.

Adam Edstrom scored his first career short-handed goal and Ryan OReilly also scored for Nashville. Juuse Saros stopped 20 shots. Vegas goaltender Adin Hill made 25 saves and denied a first-period penalty shot from Jack Drury after Nic Dowd was called for holding on a breakaway.

Edstrom tied the game 2-2 at 8:45 of the second on a short-handed play, keeping control behind the net after an initial breakaway bid and guiding the puck past Hill. Karlsson answered at 17:44 with a snap shot into the top corner.

Vegas entered after a 4-2 loss at Minnesota that ended a four-game winning streak. The Golden Knights host Calgary on Thursday. The Predators host San Jose on Thursday as they try to rebound from the regulation setback at home.

Nashville had collected points in recent games before Tuesday but could not close out after Edstroms short-handed equalizer. The final score left the Predators searching for answers against a Vegas attack that pulled away in the third period at Bridgestone Arena.
